George Müller: The Life That Proved God Answers Prayer
George Müller began as a teenage thief who stole from his own father. He ended as the man who cared for more than ten thousand orphans without ever asking a single person for money. What happened in between is one of the great proofs that God still answers prayer.
A Thief Who Met God on His Knees
Müller grew up in Prussia and studied for the ministry to earn a comfortable living, all while living a double life of drinking and gambling. Then a friend took him to a small prayer meeting. He watched a man kneel and talk to God as if God were really listening, and he went home changed. “If anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation” (2 Corinthians 5:17). The old life was gone.
A Work Built Entirely on Prayer
In Bristol, Müller opened orphan houses on Ashley Down. He made one rule. He would never ask anyone for money. When a need came, he told God alone and waited. The money arrived, often the very hour it was needed. He recorded tens of thousands of answered prayers so a doubting world could see that God provides. “And my God shall supply all your need according to His riches in glory” (Philippians 4:19).
A Faith You Can Carry Too
We assume a man like that was made of something we are not. He was a former thief who decided to believe God and never quit. He prayed for five lost friends for over fifty years. He read his Bible until his soul was happy in God. The same God who answered him is listening to you. “Call to Me, and I will answer you” (Jeremiah 33:3). Tell God what you are carrying, then watch what He does.
“Call to Me, and I will answer you, and show you great and mighty things, which you do not know.”
Jeremiah 33:3
And that, friend, is how God lifts up your day.
